At Raffini Jewellers our passion in custom made jewellery extends beyond diamonds. With our enthusiasm and knowledge, we can design and custom make jewellery using a wide range of coloured gemstones. Gemstones are classified into two categories, Precious gemstones and semi-precious gemstones.
Precious gemstones are the following: Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.
Semi-precious gemstone category holds a huge number of gemstones. Foremost amongst these are: Aquamarine ,Tourmaline, Tanzanite, Amethyst, Citrine, Garnet, and Peridot.
The Colour in gemstones is identified by three components: hue, saturation, and tone. Hue is considered to be the “colour” of the gemstone. Saturation refers to the vividness of the hue, and tone is the lightness to darkness of the hue. Nearly all Precious gemstones are subjected to some sort of treatment, to enhance their natural beauty. Sapphires and rubies are commonly heat treated, while emeralds undergo a special oiling process. These are accepted norms in the jewellery industry. Those gemstones that have not been treated, however, tend to command very high prices – even more than diamonds of similar characteristics.
